Delegates enjoy an Australian surprise at the Sector Venues Workshop!

30 May 2012

The ICCA Sector Venues International Client/Supplier Business Workshop went down under this year and was hosted by Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre (MCEC). The workshop took place from 19-21 April 2012 and 10 ICCA Sector Venue members and their accompanying clients spent two days in the beautiful city of Melbourne to network and discuss the possibility of future business. The workshop commenced with a networking reception and dinner in the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground Committee Room giving the participants an ideal opportunity to get to know one and other before the workshop took place the next day. Friday morning each participating venue member met with each client for a one-on-one discussion about the possibility of hosting one of their future events. Each participating member was given their own booth which made the discussions with each client very private and members commented that Melbourne had upped the bar for future workshops by providing booths instead of just tables.

During lunch the participants were treated to an Australian surprise of having their photograph taken with a Kuola bear, a Joey (baby kangaroo), a baby Walibi and a lizard, photos can be seen on the ICCA World Facebook page.

After the workshop members were given a short debriefing session whilst clients were able to share best practices and learn from one another in a client only session moderated by Leigh Harry, ICCA Board Member. On the final evening participants enjoyed a farewell dinner at the Rockpool Bar & Grill with a contemporary menu featuring the finest and freshest ingredients. ICCA would like to say a huge thank you to Peter King, Anne Jamieson, Shirlene Allen and the rest of the team at Melbourne for making the workshop a very memorable and enjoyable few days and for raising the bar for future workshops!

The next Sector Venues International Client/Supplier Business Workshop will take place in Cape Town, South Africa from 25-26 April 2013 and registration will open the end of 2012. More information can be found by clicking here.
